This workshop will explore the myth and math behind ancient number matrices called magic squares. The first known magic square gave birth to Feng Shui and the hexagrams of the I Ching by relating the mathematical harmony within the number matrix to harmony within a living space or balance within ones thought process. Magic squares have been found carved into ancient Indian temples and described as "yantras" (Sanskrit for "device") and are foundational to Vedic astrology, western Occultism and Islamic philosophy. They are like a unifying principle among cultures throughout recorded history, each with varying perspectives and perceived uses.

Workshop participants will learn to graph magic squares as circles as a meditation technique and potential trauma healing modality. We will also introduce a new classification we have discovered we call "master squares", and provide handouts for you to graph them at home! There are a lot of uses of magic squares that we are still discovering, so come join us to help in the discovery!
