Joel Salatin: Healing the Land One Bite at a Time

Ladies and gents, let me introduce Joel Salatin, or as some humorously refer to him, “The Lunatic Farmer.” He is a “man of the Earth” being a Christian libertarian environmentalist and has actively identified as such for quite some time now. He is the co-owner of Polyface Farm, an alternative farming project that has been nurtured with love and dedication through generation after generation, by both family and friendly hands and hearts.

Joel has advocated for, and demonstrated, alternative farming methods, and has had a lot of success in doing so. Of course, when you create disruption in a “system” that is all about greed, cutting-corners with negligence and destruction, you’ll tend to make a lot of “new” friends along the way. Even when you go the lengths to do everything the natural, sustainable and prosperous way, haters will still have the nerve to call you a “bio terrorist.” Right, why don’t we help lead you back to your room in the psych ward so you can continue playing your game of Monopoly with your imaginary friends? Let the adults handle common sense and logic.

Speaking of Joel being a “man of the earth,” he is also an eclectic and educational author of over 15 books that pertain to alternative farming methods, and that push back against the commercial farming system’s coercive methods:
