Hello NonConformists!
We have got a TREAT for you!
This is Miranda Webb tuning in here because I have got some exciting news only I can share! Anyone close to me knows that my favorite musician of all time is none other than Brother Ali, the guru behind the amazing song “Uncle Sam Goddamn” among many others. And I have managed to get him on the roster for NonConformist Series: Expressions of Freedom Edition as a speaker! Not only that, we are offering a few lucky people a chance to spend the month of October learning the art of songwriting with him! You’ll have to act quickly, but what comes could change your life forever.
Early in my anarchy days, songs like “Uncle Sam Goddamn”, “Own Life” and “The Puzzle” among others somehow managed to make me feel seen and inspired in a world honestly so messed up by governments, control, hate between humans and much more.
“You don’t give money to the bums, on a corner with a sign bleeding from their gums? Talking bout you don’t support a crackhead, what you think happens to the money from your taxes?! Sh*t, the government's an addict with a billion dollar a week kill brown people habit” I was in that phase of okay the world sucks, but now what? And then listening to stuff like this really started to help me see that window to the other side.
For me, in the darkest of days in my life and yall know I have had PLENTY it was his music that was a huge part of how I got through. Many hours spent rapping along to songs like Us, tears streaming down my face. Feeling seen with lyrics like “This is a piece of my puzzle now, through the years I found peace in my struggle now. If we were put here to carry a great weight the very thing we hate is here to build those muscles” and finally understanding how to shift from victim mode to being empowered.
Brother Ali is best known for his realistic messages about the state of governments, his unrelenting Muslim faith, love for the Quran all intertwined with his autobiographical street-preacher-style flair. You feel like you really get to know him through his words and there’s no wonder he has the loyal fan base he does. He exemplifies turning struggle into art to heal not only himself, but the world as a whole. And beyond that, the music itself is just incredibly produced thanks to greats like ANT among others.
They say you should never meet your heroes because if you do, they will disappoint you.  Those people CLEARLY were not talking about Brother Ali.
And you’ve got the chance to not just meet him virtually, but to spend a whole month with him in his upcoming intensive course Blood on Beats.
I chose to write this email, not only because I love Brother Ali, but because I know first hand the value held in this course. And how much of a BLESSING it is that we have not one, but two sponsorship slots for this course, starting this Sunday, October 5, 2025.
I had the pleasure to take this course last fall. I have had a love for rap for 10 years, and I am able to flow along to my favorite artists, but not write anything myself. When I saw this, I jumped at the chance. I was likely the LEAST experienced person in the class and I can’t say I walked away from it a rap star.
But here’s what I DID walk away with it from:
-increased love and respect for one of the BEST forms of human expression ever
-increased love for the culture that created rap and hip-hop music in general
-further fascination with the science and math behind producing music that actually heals the soul
-further confirmation that the only way to deal with the difficult story is to TELL IT. You never know what lives you might save by doing so.
This course is friendly to all. It was an absolute pleasure to interface with Ali throughout the course. He made me feel comfortable and welcomed. I consider my ability to participate in that course an absolute blessing and I would recommend it to ANY lover of art, music or freedom regardless of your background. Whether you are a poet, a painter, a rapper or just someone who’s curious on what he has to say, everyone will get something out of this class.
What do you have to do? Well, we know you want to sign up for the next NonConformist Series anyway, so the first two people to do so and then send me an email at coproducer@anarchapulco.com with their order number will be gifted the two scholarships.

What does the course include?
- Eight hours of class time with Brother Ali - including live lecture and Q&A
 - Four writing prompts
 - Four writing exercises
 - Research materials to broaden your knowledge of the craft
 - The opportunity to share your work and receive feedback from Brother Ali and your classmates
 - An exclusive Blood On Beats notebook, featuring instructions for Brother Ali's hip-hop lyrics annotation method (as taught in the workshop) and an example of an annotated verse
 - An exclusive Blood On Beats tee (short sleeve or long) in your size
 - One month of access to video recordings of the workshops
 - One month of access to an exclusive Slack channel

I still have and cherish my Blood on Beats notebook. And I sometimes look back on the recordings I have from those sessions with fondness and learn new things. Brother Ali is not only a musical genius, he’s just a genuinely amazing human being and a treasure trove of cultural experiences. He’s also very funny and I found myself regularly both in tears and laughing my way through that course. No wonder he is called Brother Ali cause he’s REALLY got those hardcore brother vibes.
Okay, go buy your NonConformist Series ticket and email me. And thank you for reading my ode to Brother Ali.
