December is just around the corner, and so is Cyber Monday, free-dom and free-stuff lovers!
We’ve got something super special for you! I bet you are sitting at the edge of your seat waiting to hear what it’s all about…I’m going to keep you in anticipation for a little while longer, while I fill you in on some exciting updates.
To begin with, we have a small contingency on the ground here in Bonfil. We’ve gone to the main event venue, Jardin Secreto. The space looks great! There’s new growth of flowers, greenery and trees in bloom. Some will Jeffinitely need a haircut or two before our arrival in February. The restaurant, Mamma Gaia”, is open for business and the food is as good as ever! They were even open for a music festival the weekend before our arrival. They are ready to host us again for 2025!
While areas of the bay and the greater Acapulco area are still a little under construction, there is a vibrant energy in the air. The local construction workers are hard at work getting things fixed up again. While there's still far ways to go for the really high rises, things are looking and smelling good on the ground.
We’ve gone to other venues, including hotels and restaurants to check out the damage, and well…same situation there. The proprietors are all hard at work, building Bonfil & Barra Vieja, back better (LOL - where have we heard that term?). While the beach has receded a bit since Otis, they are pouring new foundations, bringing in extra rocks and sand and revitalizing the oceanfront. The residents are really trying to make places habitable again, for themselves and for international visitors. Competition for business is fierce so, a lot of buildings are also getting a fresh coat of paint and makeovers.
Keep in mind that we did find some places which smelled musty or moldy so, please ask your AirBNB if there was any damage during the hurricanes. It’s incredible that some properties were completely unscathed! When selecting your rooms on AirBNB, check the box “free cancellation” so you can get out of any uncomfortable scenarios. We will be posting a list of places some time before the end of the year so, keep an eye out for that.
