Roman Ruins Road Trip

Howdy, I was looking around and there're some ancient Roman and medieval settlements scattered around the area and it would be sweet to check them out. I rented a small SUV so maybe 5 people could go on an adventure with me. I'm getting in on the evening of the 2nd, so it would be on the 3rd. Not much else is going on as far as I know. It would be great to get out on the open road and explore the country a bit. The biggest site is actually one of the 4 Roman capitals, but it's like 2 hours away. We can discuss options because there a bunch of other spots to check out. I just kinda wanna drive around and get some culture because there won't be any time once the event starts for me at least.
